World Superyacht Awards 2016

The World Superyacht Awards ceremony was held in the magnificent Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio. Guests gathered for drinks and a dinner before the winners of the coveted Neptune trophies were announced. The evening’s presenter was Spanish model and actress Inés Sastre.

The World Superyacht Awards recognise the in- genuity and innovation that go into the design, engineering and construction of the world’s finest luxury yachts. Benetti is very pleased to announce that the 63m Benetti Custom M/Y II.II won the top award for Displacement Motor Yachts from 500 to 1,299 GT. The following is the judges’ ruling:

With every yacht in this class having received top marks from at least one judge, it was a tough job to choose exactly which of the wor- thy entries should receive the Neptune. While it was recognised that each of the yachts dis- played some extremely good attributes, the se- cret ballot resulted in a win for M/Y II.II – its unusual name derived from the date of birth of the owner’s child.

At its heart, M/Y II.II is very much intended as a family yacht. Despite being near completion when purchased, the owner was able to put his distinct stamp on this vessel thanks to the cooperation and flexibility of the yacht’s build- er, Benetti. The eight judges who had viewed the yacht felt that M/Y II.II was the best product ever to come from this yard. This high opinion helped sway opinion and was a deciding factor in choosing this as the winner, along with her elegant and modern lines, excellent machinery spaces, high level of amenities for her owner and his guests, excellent crew and service are- as, and glamorous, Art Deco-inspired interior.
