Benetti 65-meter custom yacht FB274 takes shape.Hull and superstructure joined together
At its Livorno shipyard, Benetti has joined together the steel hull and aluminium superstructure of the new 65-meter custom yacht FB274. Fitting out work will start shortly, with delivery planned for the first half of 2021.
About 30 technical staff, crane operators and engineers were involved in the process of joining together the hull and superstructure of Benetti 65-meter custom yacht FB274. To make this possible, the Benetti team had to plan right from the outset for a welded bimetal component at the join point between the boat’s hull and upper section.
In the first part of the operation, performed in perfect liaison with the Lusben team, the hull of the FB274 was moved from the shed where construction work began to the yard outside with the help of special trolleys. Here, in an atmosphere of absolute concentration, the superstructure weighing about 55 tonnes was positioned over the hull by a crane with a lift capacity of 500 tonnes.
The joined hull and superstructure were then returned to the shed to complete work. The welding process will take place over the coming four weeks, followed by fitting out prior to delivery planned for summer 2021.
